I would give more than a 1st for Vegas to take Manson and flip him to Edmonton. Keeping in mind Edmonton's 1st is better than Anaheims too.

Very true, definitely means Vatanen is gone. Wish the Devils offered up a bit more for him rather than the 2nd rounder for Mueller.

Yeah those side deals are set in stone, he isn't going to (frank) over half a dozen GMs day 1 of the offseason, he would make doing his job very difficult from this point fwd.

But since teams can still make deals with vegas till thursday, wonder if he starts to go back and forth on teams to see if he can drive up the costs on some of his side deals

Has anyone brought up the fact that the Devils will be trading Kovalchuk for Larsson on July 1st?

What? Benning was okay....but it's not like he's Doughty?

No he's not, but you don't just trade away players that signed ufa deals with you. That's how you piss people off and make yourself a less desirable location for them to sign. Benning is a solid young right shot dman and Manson isn't that big of an upgrade to make me want to have UFA's think twice about signing here. I would love to bring him in, but I would want to keep Benning. Use the 1st and prospects.

Vegas has no reason to trade inside the division or even conference.

Deals should be Eastern based for players they want to move. Although why they would move out talented blue liners is beyond me.

They understand it's a busy Des and the goal is to ice the best team possible . Most if not all care about winning, locations and cash. The rest is just imaginary petty bullpoop.

At this point Vegas won't be concerned about that. This is all about maximizing assets.

You forgot to mention the precursor trade of sending Mark Fayne to Anaheim for Johan Larsson then flipping Johan Larsson to New Jersey for Kovalchuk.
